The Whippersnappers versus The Zimmerframers

So I have a grand to bet with each day and can bet on which races I wish and not necessarily all of them - Am I correct so far? If I do not use my full allowance can it be rolled over to the next day?

No roll over. You start with 1K again the following day regardless. I will try and keep a league table going in terms of money and also in terms of match play (Ryder Cup style)

I'm also looking for an oldie to give Triptych a game please, although we might accept and honourary oldie if necessary;)

£1000w - Harbinger

Well that makes life easy for me!! I was going to back Harbinger too so guess I'll change tack!! If Harbinger comes in at 7/4 I need £3,000 so might as well throw a few darts at big prices and have the saver on Sea The Stars!! Let battle commence

2.15 £100 e/w Beat Surrender
1.45 £250 w Brave Prospector
1.45 £150 w Captain Dunne
4.05 £100 e/w Flaneur
4.40 £199 w Laterly
3.25 £1 w Sea The Stars

If allowed only one each way then make Flaneur a £200 win.

You can have as many bets as you like. (no multiples or forecasts - though I might introduce that for the final day by way of an experiment). No where does it limit the number of bets, or bet types in the rules. I've decided to award a degree of ingenuity in staking strategies (a bit like Davy Russell working out how to get round the cross country course). Particularly taken by the thought that went into Melendez's small stake on Sea The Stars, reckoning that if his opponent drew a blank, he could win his match with a £1 return?. Unfortuantely, Jairducochetfan had spotted the same loop hole and had a slightly larger small stakes bet. Strike one to the whippers.

Waiting on Toobe, Bar the Bull, Gareth, Jinny (and possibly myself unless an 11th hour volunteer comes into the frame to play Triptych)

All bets placed so far look fine, although the Whippersnappers might well be a little quicker on their feet in terms of strategy. Some of the older folk have adopted the eggs in one basket approach here. It remains to be seen?

At least us old folk were taught the importance of being able to do basic mathematical calculations. Strike two to the zimmers.

So the 1.15 deadline is up, and first blood goes to the Zimmers as Arkwright completes a walk over of Bar The Bull. 1-0

So that his effort isn't wasted however, he is able to take my spot and play Triptych in a hastily arranged 12th game

Those who've taken a few sneaky small stakes bets on STS might be rewarded yet
