Two bets, two winners; need Lucy Wadham to sort me out to cap a great day.
As an aside, who would have guessed a few years ago that the two highest profile Fasliyev horses in Britain in 2011 would be a Ffos Las specialist and a 3m hunter chaser?
Only one horse I strongly fancy today and it's Baby Shine in the Mares Bumper at Huntingdon - from the unfashionable yard of Lucy Wadham but she took an Open Maiden P2P at Kilsheelan back in October in very impressive fashion off level weights (no Mares Allowance) in a very decent time (only the Open won by Gaspar was faster) from subsequent winners Border Pass (3rd) and Ravastree (now with Alan King) whilst the runner-up Master Workman has placed since.
She was switched from Ireland to the Newmarket yard of Lucy Wadham for whom she was a well backed FTO Bumper winner at Southwell (7/1 into 2/1), her main rival that day (a Henderson mare) didn't run to form but she was heavily eased close home and won easily with the only subsequent runner from the race (Sharlenes Quest beaten 13 lengths in 5th) coming out on Saturday to beat a well backed horse of Tim Vaughan's at Ffos Las.
She's available at a best priced 7/2 at the moment and is well worth a decent bet IMO.

Cyrus is fit and well and would have a decent ew chance at 10/1 in the 4.15
Cheers there bigman - got in at 4/1 - sorts out a couple of poor results on the day and gets me ahead - Bar the Bull owes you a big drink I'd imagine - Great call!!

Not too bad at all!!! If she looked like the back of a bus I'd still chance it after that!
Nice
I'm sure Lucy Wadham (author) is delighted to be the subject of a "would you or wouldn't you" discussion on Talking Horses.
I don't usually like backing at short prices, but I was expecting Cheltenian to be a much shorter price for today's bumper at Kempton (currently 10/11). There has already been some money for it in the Champion Bumper market, but it needs a win on the board to be sure of getting into that race.
Cheltenian veered dramatically left when asked for an effort in the straight on his debut at Punchestown. I have my doubts whether he would have won even if he'd kept a straight line, but even so he is well clear of the others in today's race with previous form.
Second favourite is an Alan King newcomer. Montbazon must be a very handsome individual, because although the pedigree offers little encouragement (it's safe to say that the sire, Alberto Giacometti has not been a success) he cost £28,000 at the sales.
Cheltenian is a talking horse, and big money was paid for him after Punchestown, but today is unlikely to be the acid test.
