What are you backing Today? Part 2

Saturday, Warwick Classic Chase - Grace A Vous Enki 14/1 - absolutely chucked in on his French chase rating. Might end up a gamble, might not, but I'm on this half-brother to Yala Enki. Bryony Frost rides and she gets a tune out of Yala.

I'm pretty sure Dan Skelton would like to have found amore valuable Novice Hurdle that todays race at Huntingdon but that is no easy task with very few races avaialble.

He ran an absolute cracker behind Nicky Henderson's unbeaten Balco Coastal with the 3rd somewhere back in the next county.

Frere D'armes ***Star bet at 2.04 on the machine

This is not an easy race to work out so a bit of caution is advised but hopefully I've gort it sussed.

PN is perhaps the best trainer in the country but I think he's looking for luckies today with Rouge Vif

He steps him up to 2m4f today and I cant see him trying to make all. I have serious doubts about him lasting home.

Defi Du Seuil gets his ground but Hobbs horses are not running well enough to expect him to suddenly come back to form.
He's won at the trip in the past but it was so long ago and his form is so bad he needs a miracle to pull this off today.

Mister Fisher got into the bottom of several fences in the King george and never got into any kind of rythm
If I suspect this will not be run at a fast pace he should be able to get into a rythm
Even if PN's goes tearing off he is unlikey to get home.

Eldorado Allen is bound to go close but he is a bit too one paced for my liking
which can be a huge disadvantage in a small field if there is no pace.

Mister Fisher's 2nd to Frodon was an excellent effort he has speed to burn on a going day, handles soft ground well enough

Mister Fisher ** star bet 2.94 average on the machine looks as good as you will get anywhere.

Rouge Vif for me in the Silviniaco Conti.

RV clearly didn't stay. I don't mind that. If you're gong to experiment with a rise in trip I think you ride on the assumption it will stay. Could end up nicely weighted in the Grand Annual. Today won't have done his mark any harm, that's for sure.

Both trainers are adamant they are going so I might be robbing muself of a better price but can't have it both ways

Just been watching Scudamore bouncing up and down in the saddle with Red Lion Lad at Chepstow. Did come third , but how an earth you keep a horse balanced and in rhythm with this damn technique is beyond me. Perhaps you riders out there can enlighten me.

Nicky Henderson intrudeced anothe Walk In The Park to the hurdling game today at Newbury.

Having a small bet on Hecouldbetheone to turn over Walking on Air
who was all the rage for a bumper in his first outing but he ran like a very ordinary horse and many got their fingers burned.

He looks like starting odds on but I wouldn't want to putting my wages on him

Hacker Des Places (Lingfield 15:35) - 12/1 Bet Victor

Somewhat surprised that this horse isn't much shorter in the betting today, and think he is a cracking each-way price.

I could bang-on about him being unexposed, trained by Nicholls etc, but the crucial factor in his favour today is the ground. I'm prepared to forgive his last run on Soft as it came after a break of more than a year, but today's Heavy going should be right up his street. The last time he raced on it was in his first outing for Nicholls, where he went steadily further and further clear to win by 32L......from a horse now rated 114, with a horse now rated 100 beaten 80L.

Clearly, it would be daft to take the winning distances too literally, but it does suggest that he goes tremendously well in bottomless ground, and that he may have gotten in a little lightly off a mark of 132 (dropped from 136 after that FTO effort).

I think we'll see a different horse today, with that run under his belt, and with the prevailing ground almost certainly in his favour. Nicholls could probably have run any amount of horses in this £52K race, and I think it's noteworthy that he has chosen to go to war with this one.

Absolutely friendless.......drifted to 20/1 in places.

An excellent performance by Metier.

I'd love it, love it if it came up heavy for the Betfair Hurdle, as I think he'd have a huge chance, but I doubt it will.

Keep him entered up though just in case the heavens open.
