Expensive lunchtime on betdaq-had twice as much as I planned on NDLT,laid the next fav at Lingfield for too much, tried to get it all back laying Fingal Bay,followed by a desperate place lay of Close House at 1/3.
My head is melted.

Walkon - possible place lay?
While this horse is a class act, Alan King is keen to say this horse will be coming to hand later on in the season.

1.20 - Trafalgar Road - Charlie Longsdon likes this horse alot and he believes he could be a top class horse not to be underestimated, he says he is a relentless galloper with a huge engine, could be a star. (This is the one from the yard Longsdon is most excited about) has had a long time off injured and as long as he doesn't bounce from his effort L/T/O his odds could look generous.

Either Alan King was putting out a bit of false information for a price or he has a very good horse on his hands?

I know there's a few Nick Williams fans on here and I'll be joining in today when his 5yo gelding Sarika goes in the Handicap Chase (3:30) at Taunton. Thought Sarika was unlucky to come down 4 out last time when still travelling very well under todays pilot Lizzie Kelly and though the principals have disappointed since the final horse home Timpo has won and placed since whilst this represented a fair drop in grade for Sarika from her previous outing when tailed off behind the ex-Henry De Bromhead trained Kotkidy (rated 126 over hurdles/111 over fences in Ireland) on heavy ground at Dieppe back in September, he's also won a couple of point to points last season and ran well in a 5yo Chase at Compiegne back in May under James Reveley. The handicapper hasn't altered his mark for that and I think he's well worth backing at 9/2 under a useful amateur who's 1 from 5 over fences in her career including a win for this yard (I believe Jane Williams is her mother) in a Hunter Chase at Exeter last season and the 9/2 looks worth a bet IMO.

Martin

I knew this name wrung a bell - but I'll be honest I didn't back it - write up was one race too early Martin.

I missed the intermediate chase at Sandown, was Golan Way impressive or did his rivals under-perform?

Either way it was another blow to the RSA form.

Bostons Angel didn't really get involved. Connections feel he wasn't concentrating so he'll next run in blinkers and goes for the Lexus.

The second jumped poorly so I wouldn't get excited on the winner's behalf.

I'm on Notus de la tour, looks a natural chaser to me and Walkon will need to be at his best and jump well first time over fences.

Walkon did both unfortunately for me!!! Good performance by the winner and I knew I was in trouble when Fitzgerald said he looked fit. I'd also forgotten that the horse has a good FTO record.

Just watched this race. I really think they should be either leading or up with the pace on Bostons Angel. He needs to be aggressively ridden as he doesn't have turn of foot but is gritty so will battle when challenged.

Not sure last years staying chasers are up to all that much... Apart from Quite de la roque obviously..... :ninja:

I've just seen the replay of this. Golan Way won it well at a big price and has good form behind Quito DLR. I'd say he's half decent. Took it up and held off all challenges convincingly.

I agree but I did feel Royal Charm had their measure before his clumsy fall, but a very good jumping performance from Golan Way.

When beaten by QDLR he lost ground jumping right too. Liked the winner today and typical Sandown battle from front performance. Being there it was especially good to see the winners enclosure and a real buzz from all connections (sounds patronising i know) What a decent trainer she is? 20% strike rate this season. Going to keep an eye on this stable even more now

Maybe about royal charm but it was a little way out and as we saw with Fingal, the hill still has to be battled.

For mine, Bostons Angel has a serious attack of the slows, and was struggling to keep up before they'd gone half-a-mile, let alone lead the field.
He's going to need further or softer to feature in any good races this season, but it's notable that one horse was even slower on his former outing............QDLR - Gold Cup horse, my foot.

I'm reliably informed that Ziff will take some stopping in the bumper at Fairyhouse today.

Currently 11/2 with Skybet - SP will be nearer 2/1 though IMO.

Tip of the day Bruce. Never put the same horse in an Accumulator that you have nicked the price on ante-post. Maximise your chances by putting something else in. You stood to win enough with your single.

Plumpton 1:10 - Maringo Bay

Overpriced imo - beat the likely fav Invictus 20L over hurdles earlier this year off levels (Feb)(carries 7lb less this race) before flopping at Aintree where trainer said he was over the top. He also had the impressive, Teaforthree 9L behind in that race as well although Gift Of Dgab a bit of an unknown. Looks a value bet If It drifts again to 10.0 or bigger betfair

Trainer says: 22/11/11 - trainer 25% strike-rate with chasers at this course.

MARINGO BAY
6 b g Old Vic - Waterland Lady.
Started with close third of three in two mile six novice chase at Fakenham in January then won two and half mile novice hurdle at Ffos Las by nine lengths from Teaforthree. Rated 138 and finished distant eighth of nine to Spirit Son in grade two hurdle at Aintree in April. Stays on debut mark.

"My great white hope who I was pleased with when I rode him work last time - seemed in great order. I'll start him in a small beginners chase but he is a gorgeous horse that jumps really well. Doesn't need much work. He should never have gone to Aintree because he'd gone over the top. Better with some cut."

1:40 Duke Of Monmouth - has C/D & Going form - is tough and has come out of his last race very well.

1:50 Red Skipper - I have an interest in this horse and we're very hopeful he'll be in the firing line today - e/way

2:10 Jolibob - works much better than his O/R - they're hoping first time blinkers will wake him up.
