What are you backing Today?

Im still moonwalking round the front room in celebration of this Dan. First winner I've had since slim chance's Mullins cheltenham double last year (at least it feels that ******* way). Cheers.

Yeah you're probably right with POA but he looks a horrible ride (or maybe Queally's giving him shockers?) so would be reluctant to back him again now.

Haha I know what you mean.

POA does look tricky enough but I reckon he's just not had competent rides. Completely up to you of course but I'll carry on following him for a couple of runs yet.

Surprised to see Menorah odds against today (only in one place atm but drifting everywhere).

You could say I need my head read for suggesting him at such short odds but surely he has a massive class advantage over these and can give the weight away.

Doubled Menorah at evens with Hawksmoor in the German 1,000 guineas at 2/1

The Jockey Club looks more betting friendly than the Epsom version with it being easy to rule horses out on ground, form and draw grounds. Dutched Raseed and Dicton in the race, both each way for 4 places.

The market says you might be right. Even so I'm not sure he'd beat menorah. Might have a small saver just in case though.

I've just looked at the full market. Saw him at 13/2 and thought that would have been a fair opening price but just checked the tissue.

Double for me - Gold Futures and King Calypso (3:30Gdwd). Pays around 75/1.

Think the ground may be lively enough for Menorah and he's never raced in June before which is enough to put me off. Clearly he'd have too much class for these if at his best though
Gold Futures for me too

Good man!Enjoy the day.

Thanks for this Fonz, Yeah was a really good day. I've enjoyed my time in the capital.

Jockey George Wood has two live chances at Goodwood today. Cotton Club (3:30) Black Redstart (4:00).
I'm chucking these two in a patent with Red Story over at my favorite track Perth (4:55)

Good shout with GF, and KC ran well too

7.15 Pontefract-Waterclock

Each Way @ 6-1 [Bet 365] BOG

Will be staying on when a lot of his rivals will be struggling

Vallarta (4.30 Ayr)
Well in on a c&d win last year and tanked through the race last time but couldn't quite pick up on the ground, should rattle over it here and go close.

Tawdeea (4.10) ran better than his placing suggests in a hot Redcar hcap latest. Baulked twice when making his run, he was allowed to coast home afterwards and with better luck, would have been right there among the principals. The smaller field and step up in trip should bring compensation.
Today's odds-on fav needed all of Ascot's 12f to assert latest, and the selection ought to have too many gears for him over this lesser test on faster ground. 11/4 generally.

I got 100/30 about Blossomtime in the 3.20 at Yarmouth last night. The way she finished her debut run as a 3yo at Salisbury and her pedigree suggests that she'll improve for this step up in trip.

Plenty of rain around York today so be looking out for those softer ground horses.

I look a couple of Fahey's today - Baltic Beau and Giddy.

Mick Easterby has a couple too that I quite fancy as an each way punt. I can't remember their names off the top of my head now, I'll put them up in a bit.

Done the dangerous thing and changed my mind. The wet weather has made me back Baltic Beau for Fahey, forgive the last run.

I've abandoned Giddy but I've backed the following:

YorkshireDebut in the first - Solid first run and surprised at the price given many on debut.
Laurence - decent effort back from a break and expect a better run today - I like Atzeni on board too
Mount Tahan - Ryan/Spencer combination and a decent each way price
Dawaa - This horse won twice last year over 6f. Two comeback runs over 7f and clearly didn't get the trip. Can't really see why Hanagan has chosen the other one given the drop in trip is in Dawaa's favour - I suppose he knows more than me but at a decent price back at best trip it's worth taking a chance on.
Lungarno Palace - trainer completely out of form but the booking of Hanagan for a Course winner catches my eye - another each way punt.

Each way multiples for a bit of fun. Good luck all

Good luck pal

I've gone for Bergholt in the 4.05 at Sandown. This horse ran well at Goodwood last month from an unpromising position before being well held in a maiden at Bath a week or two later. To be honest I don't take any notice of them type races and he might not have been off that day anyway. He's 25s today and is worth a go in a bad each way race.

Cheers Euro - sadly no luck for either of us. Made a little back on Dawaa, I knew it was worth taking on the favourite but sadly nothing else joined it in placing to help get my money back/make a small profit!

Mayson proving to be quite a successful First Season Sire in the first at York. May have to keep an eye out for more of his progeny.

Elronaq each-way in the big sprint handicap at York.

His mark has tumbled lately to 94 and he's now looking very well-handicapped on his very promising early runs around this time last year. He was a good third to Shalaa in the July Stakes and was rated 103 at one point. Both runs this year have been very moderate but one may have been over the wrong trip and the other was on the AW. You certainly can't say he's in form and there are question marks today over ground and draw but he's 25/1 or thereabouts.

Have to put this up now as the overnighter are already taking the value but Ecureuil in the 3.15Salisbury should go close. Think there might be some 11/2 or 6/1 about but the 8s gone.

With the above I'm adding Medicimen (3.00Donc) and Isis Blue in the first for the trixie. 6/1, 8/1 and 14/1.

I'm thinking Medicimen will step forward again on last time and Isis Blue will be shorter assuming the odds on favourite is pulled after winning a ding dong at Sandown today. Milkman does well at Salisbury and I think it goes close if proving stamina.

Handsome Dude might have found the right type of race to win in the 3:30 at Doncaster .
He's got solid form from last season with yesterdays Musselburgh runner-up Thesme, shown gradual improvement with the blinkers applied, and probably needs the cut in the ground.

Also sweet on Kristjano in the 5:10.

Save the bees, looks like every man and his dog is backing this one today, probably because Gigolo has given it the thumbs up!

Adding in the following to a Canadian:

Major Rowan 5.15 Thirsk - not won on turf but performance at Wetherby on come back showed fit and well, didn't last the distance and now dropped 2f should prove much better.

Ponty Royale 5.45 Thirsk. African sunset could be anything but nothing behind its maiden win has won since so I think better taking on with tried and tested and in good form.

Zaina Rizeena - well handicapped and no surprise to see dropped in distance in come back run. Weak in the market this morning and possible because now reduce two furlongs to 6 when maiden win over 7f. However pulled hard on comeback as well as on 7f win and I think could have the pace to win this.

Private matters 6.40 Nottingham. Some likely types in this however, this has had a run and had no chance when ran wide but was strong in the betting. Fss Mayson has had a few winners so far so expect this one to be much better today and at an each way price looks good value so will back separately to the above.

Good luck all.
