Have to give this a mention today

Navan 1:20 Copy That

14's last night into 8s now. If this comes back to his winning form 129 is no mark. The best and only bet today for me, imo.

Good luck today guys. I've not been through the cards as thoroughly as usual but at a glance they look to have found a decent opportunity for BURNSIDE (Lingfield 1.30).

Hereford 2:40 Matchaway can out-run odds of 7/1. Overall a consistent horse, put in one bad run first time out when pulled up this season, can do better today.

Ayr 3:00 Little Glenshee hasn't been over hurdles for a while, but at around 6/1 she is worth betting. I see nothing unfair about a rating of 121 on her previous hurdles form (2015).

I have done small singles with an each way double.

Lady Elizabeth (Southwell 1.00) - The feeling is she is a bit better than she has been showing lately. She has had a few issues and I think it's back to basics today. Worth taking a chance on to small e/w stakes. Drifted from 11/1 to 25/1 which is a concern but I reckon she can go well.

2.10 - Kempton - Estibdaad. 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1.
The opening race at Kempton looks very competitive and doesn't look a bad race for the grade. Drawn in stall four Estibdaad could get to the front an an early stage and he is in the kind of form from which he could take advantage. He has been on a good mark for a while now and came closest to taking advantage over this C/D in October. He runs from the same mark here, is better drawn than he was that day and the jockey who rode for the first time then returns for his second go.

2.30 - Southwell - Showboating. 0.5 pts e/w. Available at 33/1.
Not our favourite surface but some horses act on it really well. Showboating is one of them and he is a big price today. He won twice here last year over 7/8 furlongs and went close over C/D from a four pound higher mark in March. It's been 16 starts since he last got his head in front but he wasn't disgraced on his return from a seven month absence over six furlongs at Newcastle last time out and it's likely he will strip fitter here. The return to both this surface and the longer trip are in his favour and he is drawn either side of some early pace, so he should get a good tow into the race. He can be a tricky ride but the jockey who was on board for his last two victories is in the plate this afternoon. The yard do quite well with their horses at this track and both they and the jockey turn up with just the one entry.

3.20 - Taunton:
Sonoftheking. 1 pt win. Available at 11/1.
Fuhgeddaboudit. 1 pt win. Available at 12/1.
Water Wagtail looks the one to beat but he is short enough for a horse who is 2 from 19 and there are a few viable alternatives at much bigger prices. Edeiff's Lad ran well for us last time out but he's yet to fully convince over this trip so preference is for Sonoftheking and Fuhgeddaboudit. Sonofaking was the winner of a modest Hunter Chase at Exeter on his penultimate start and he may have found the race coming too soon when he was pulled up when last seen in May. He hasn't had many chances under rules over fences and it wouldn't have been easy to allocate him a rating. A mark of 99 could give him a room to manoeuvre and he will handle the ground. He has a good record in Points, having been placed in ten of his eleven races, winning twice. Fuhgeddaboudit is a nine year old who has obviously had his problems. This is just his 14th start and he was off the track for almost three years prior to returning in January. He never showed much in his first three starts over hurdles but he went close on his fourth, going down by half a length from a mark of 95. He made his Chase debut from four pounds higher last time out at Bangor and he was still travelling well when falling four out. If none the worse for that experience he could build on that this afternoon. He is unexposed over this trip so it could be a source of improvement.

3.50 - Taunton:
Giveitachance. 2 pts win. Available at 6/1.
Spillers Dream. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 25/1.

Will be surprised if Westren Warrior cannot do the business and win tomorrow for the good doctor Richard Newland in the 1:05 a Ludlow. Rated as high as 137 in a limited hurdle career, he was a good second place against a 152 rated horse called Aux Ptits Soins and trained by Paul Nicholls on his first chase run. While I haven't checked the opposition, which I'll need to do before contacting my banker in the Cayman Islands, anything other than a big run will leave me merrily fucked off.

Sizing Platinum clouted a couple at Cheltenham last time out which cost him dear, especially the second last which he smashed whilst taking the lead. This race at Ludlow today is less competitive. Backed him in a single and a double with Culture De Sivola at Ffos Las. The step up in trip today should suit that horse.

Ludlow 2.40
Fox Appeal has been cut some slack by the handicapper and should be capable of taking this off 5lb lower than when the jolly for a competitive race at Ascot. Has decent form at this trip also. Following PB in on this one

I'm with you on Sizing Platinum Euro and I've had a good bet on him today. I also have him in a double with Kilcrea Vale who was never quite right last season but has apparently strengthened up this summer. He's got a big engine, but has been a bit backward since his very impressive bumper win.

I probably shouldn't have KV in the double against PB and Marble who have selected Westren Warrior in the same race and have been in fine tipping form recently!

Sonofaking went down by a head in the shadows of the post yesterday, which was the difference between a profitable and losing day. In the same race Fuhgeddaboudit was still travelling well when making a horlicks of the fourth last, effectively ending any chance he had. Giveitachance, Spillers Dream, Estibdaad and Showboating all disappointed.

One of my worst runs for a while, but happens now and again when dealing with horses at big prices. Long term profit is the key.

Today's Selections:

1.30 - Newcastle - Amazement. 1 pt e/w. Available at 10/1.
A decent handicap opens Newcastle's card. Keystroke is a short priced favourite and this lightly raced four year old has performed to a decent level in his three attempts on the A/W, winning twice. Both victories came on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton so he should find this track to his liking. His latest win by a head has been franked by the runner up who has since won from a two pound higher mark. Still an entire, a three pound rise looks very fair and he probably deserves to be the price he is, especially considering his yard have been rare visitors here and they send just the one on a 490 mile round trip. However he may be drawn away from where the action develops and that could leave him with a bit of work to do at some point in the race. With the favourite taking the majority of the market there are some decent prices available about some unexposed three year olds. Constantino and Amazement come into the race on the back of career best efforts and both are drawn adjacent to Mont Ras, who is likely to put the pace to the race. Preference is for Amazement who returned from a five month break to win over this C/D last month. He is six pounds higher here in a better race but he is open to improvement and his Sire has a decent strike rate on the synthetic surfaces. The yard are 2 from 8 here in recent seasons and they too send just the one on a near 500 mile round trip.

1.35 - Ludlow:
Sizing Platinum. 3 pts win. Available at 7/2.
Festive Affair. 1 pt win. Available at 9/1.
This is a decent race, befitting the prize money on offer. Sizing Platinum heads the market and he looks likely to run well. He faded up the Cheltenham hill over an extended two miles last time out but his fourth, beaten just over eight lengths, in a slightly better race was still a creditable effort. Two miles on a flat track like this could suit him and his overall profile suggests a mark of 141 is manageable. Most of his best form has come on good ground but it was G/S at Cheltenham so conditions here should be fine if there is not too much rain. Tom O'Brien takes the ride for the first time and this under-rated jockey is 3 from 12 here over fences in recent seasons. Festive Affair is up three pounds for a narrow win at Doncaster last time out and this is a better race. However he was a seven length third in a Listed handicap at Ascot prior to that so it would be foolish to believe that he can't get competitive at this level. His only previous visit here saw him run out a comfortable winner over today's trip and he is versatile regarding ground conditions. He seems to have benefited from the fitting of cheekpieces and they are on again this afternoon. After a slow start to the campaign, the yard are now in much better form.

2.40 - Ludlow - Cernunnos. 1 pt e/w. Available at 11/1.

Given you are all tipping up Sizing Platinum I am partaking.

In the last at Newcastle there are two rogueish horses who are starting to look well handicapped. Windforpower for Tracey Waggot. Dropped another pound today and has been running well. If gets a good break should outrun the odds and be finishing strongly. I don't know anything about Paula Weir on Slim Chance but a 7lb claimer on a horse that is looking well handicapped is tempting. Horse never won on allweather but is often within a few lengths. Coming down the weights whilst not beaten all that far is tempting me also so having a small each way bet on both.

Not deliberately trying to go against the grain, But I've backed Zamdy Man in the 1:05 Ludlow at 6/1.
Was once a 156 rated Hurdler which is significantly better than the opposition today and got off the mark over fences LTO.
Step up in trip a slight concern and the obvious JP Bingo whether he is off today or not, but the late support in market convinced me.

Well Done with Kilcrea Vale Maruco. Did it very easily, especially after WW bowed out. Good shout.
Zamdy man first run for JP today, and while he jumped out to his right a lot, I think he could be one to watch in 2m Handicaps on soft ground as the season progresses.
He was keen today and 2M4F probably too long a trip. I'll keep him in the tracker and watch his H'Cap mark. As always, it's about timing them right with JP horses.

I'd have had the odds of Paula Weir riding Slimchance as a 1000/1 poke.

Ha ha, probably right, just starting to look like well handicapped, see how it goes today with token bet. One to jump on when decent jock put on I think, if continues to run decently.

Need this to change for Christmas. Getting it in on the best horse in the race at inflated odds and no return again.
