What are you backing Today?

Going to Cork racecourse today for their students race day, well I'm a student of the formbook after all. The 4.45 is a 17 runner 3m handicap hurdle. Daring Article, the top weight, has been the subject of many a misplaced gamble this season. It's not hard to see his Felix Young formline put the 14/1 under pressure tomorrow but I'm going to pass him over. I thought the 8/1 on offer with Boyles overnight on Beterthanalright was a price to smash up. Trip and going no problem and on a real upward curve, he looks more like a 8/2 shot tomorrow.

I had to do €5 e/w doubles with bad e/w races to get close to a pony e/w on with Boyles but I think it will be worth it. Even at that they cut the price to 13/2! They really are a pathetic outfit.

Maybe for the Guineas - early and often - me keeping the powder dry lasted all of 21.5 hrs:o

In other words you're putting money in a jam jar. Defeat for that filly is out of the question. Ser Joseph won't mind not eating for a week to get down to 9st every now and again... :ninja:

Agree with Gearoid on Betterthanalright - been following him since he made his debut last September and the 3m should be right up his street.

Will be backing Spinning Waters of Dai Burchell's in the 14:40 Chepstow today - won this race last year off a 3lb higher mark and with Ollie Dayman claiming five up, this year another 5lb claimer takes over in the shape of Matt Griffiths. Last years win came on good ground whilst he ran well in a better race next time out off 100 and has since won two handicaps on the flat at the track so clearly enjoys the South Wales venue. He's been racing over 2 1/2m and 3m of late and the drop back to 2m may well suit him as IMO the step up was an effort to run the handicap mark back down some. He's currently available at 16/1.

Good Morning,

Have a long train journey ahead of me today so I've tried to keep some interest on the side - a small £1 Yankee at Wolverhampton; Greenhead High, Moataz, Edgeworth & Just Five.

Life is a matter of small margins, I may have reserved a seat on the train next to a gigantic mammoth of an animal who starts to open up a fish sandwich and cracks open a beer at 11 am in the morning before reaching for the baggage holdall above his head when the wet patch underneath the armpit area sprays an aroma of cheese and onion crisps whilst he proceeds to load up his laptop for a 25 minute journey.

Hell, I hope you all have a good days betting.

I'm hoping Bet365 go up at 15/2 or better at 9am for the top up. When I'm awake at 8.39am to back a horse it's a very serious fancy...

Than again I have to get a routine going for the flat season.

Have a saver on Sheer Genius - won a moderate maiden on the ground at Leopardstown but the handicapper left him alone. Think he is also crying out for the step up in trip. Murphy tilts at windmills with some of his and gets murdered by the handicapper, this one however has been given the benefit of the doubt having run in the Champion Bumper and Supreme Novices . His son is an adequate rider too.
Toughest race of the day on paper.

I actually don't think it's that tough given so many of them have doubts about the distance and others are just in terrible form.

So you've moved on from schoolgirls then?

No never! In fact the last girl I slept with asked NE to leave before her mother arrived at 12pm and commented "Does this remind you of sleeping with schoolgirls". Sigh.

Anyway it has long been written in the gentlemans code of conduct that I abide too that the acceptable formula for courting is:

Your age (28)/2(+7)=21

Therefore fornicating with schoolgirls would be frowned upon by the middle class folk that I aspire to be accepted by.

Regards
Local lad done good (working class hero)
Gearoid

Fantastic selection Martin. Dai just don`t care does he. Look at the way he won. When I did that I finished up in Portman Square. Good luck to him and you.

Haven't posted on this thread before and i know Gigalo has no interest in the hedgehoppers but thought i'd popon and give a mention for Spinning Waters in the 1st race at NA.
Will be better suited by this good ground and must have a decent chance on its running behind Knight in Purple last season with plenty of horses behind that have won multiple races since. Doesn't go well on softer ground but won twice at Chepstow on the flat last year over 2 miles and this distance should suit over hurdles, has dropped 10lbs in the ratings since 2nd to Knight in Purple and should have a good chance in this poor race.

Good luck with that but this horse is entered next Thursday at Chepstow, where he is a bit of a course specialist - my worry would be that, that race is the target - had a small e/way anyway - so if not today I'll get it back next Thursday.

Had to back Won In The Dark at 4.0( on the machine) in 3.45 Cork. Should surely have too much class for this lot, and it's a fair price in a small field.

Cheers Martin!!!! I followed you today - didn;t get the early price but got on at 9's!!! Top man!!!

This one contracted in the market - another TH inspired market move?!
