Midlands National

It looks to me like there are even more plots than usual in this race including those with back-class down in the weights and these are the ones I want to concentrate on. They give me a long lost of Houblon Des Obeaux, Firebird Flyer, Mad Brian, Mysteree, Gevrey Chambertin, Out Sam, Cogry, Spookydooky and Goulanes.

Paring them back risks missing out on potential winners but I’m going to let go of Firebird Flyer (off the same mark as when winning last year but wouldn’t have won if Golden Chieftain hadn’t fallen), Out Sam (has passed up similar chances off this mark) and Cogry (might not jump well enough and not many positives from the stable at Cheltenham). Six is still a bit many for a field of 20, especially with five of them at 14/1 or shorter so I’m going to go with just the two, both of which have the back-class to destroy this field should they consent to show it.

Houblon Des Obeaux (20/1)
Mad Brian (10/1)

(So now watch one of the other fvckers win.)

Spookydooky each way for me. Managed to nick some 8/1 earlier
Elsewhere El Terremoto may be overpriced at 22/1 in the 2.40 at Kempton having got stuck in the mud at Sandown last time.
American looks like a good thing in the 2.25 at Uttoxeter

Hoping Daryl Jacob has a good day at Kempton today, 2 rides around 4/1 and 2 at much bigger prices.

I toyed with putting it on the will win thread but i've no inside knowledge so there's always the chance he's being kept for a bigger prize.

Great shooting after a couple of downers, just on those bets had American, Cool Sky and ummed n ahhed between Sharney Sike and Halcyon Days for the trixie. Thought the Halcyon Days race was too hot and plumped for Sharney Sike (recent Coltherd form and just sending the one in) - arghhhhhh :blink:

Good luck PB and top bombing yesterday.

No strong fancies today, I am taking Crosse fire to double up today and win at Southwell.
Noel Fehily is an interesting booking on handicap debutant Magical Thomas at Exeter and plenty of money down.
River Warrior in the last at Southwell - handicap debut after three poor runs for Fahey and a 7lb claimer on.
Swing Hard - Wetherby, consistent performer for Sue Smith and fancied to run well.
