Will Altior Be Beaten?

Who is the poster on here who hammers on about Solomon Grey?

Absolute scenes tomorrow when neither Altior or Cyrname get past hkm and he spoils the party at 50/1

For a £70k race wit just shy of £40k to the winner I’d have hoped more than 3 would run. Solomon Grey should pick up some decent prize money for just lobbing around in his own time

Interesting to see how this pans out especially if Cyrname produces what he did last time out.

He is a different horse since we changed his training routine mid season and the fact that he is more relaxed is largely down to Scott Marshall who rides him at home every day. In a lot of ways Cyrname is playing at home in this much anticipated clash with Altior. He was brilliant in his two victories at Ascot, burned them off from the front and earned a lofty rating of 178 after landing the Grade 1 Ascot Chase by 17 lengths. There are no doubts about the tactics. Cyrname will go off in front because Harry Cobden will have no option and Altior will follow. Then it will be game on turning for home and may the best man win. I have great faith in Cyrname who looks fantastic and thrilled me in a recent spin at Wincanton. He is definitely ready.

We were always going to come here but it was important to keep him in at Haydock just in case anything happened at Ascot as I would have looked pretty stupid if we weren’t entered and ended up with nowhere to go because it was crucial that he ran this weekend to fit in with the King George on Boxing Day. There’s nothing else to add that hasn’t already been said in the press this week other than the fact that I am extremely happy with him and his work has been excellent, as has his schooling. There are only three runners so it has the potential to prove tactical but I’d expect Cyrname to go out in front and make it a true test, but who knows what will really happen? It’s all done now and what will be will be, that’s all I can say.

If Cyrname grabs a lead it could be hard for Altior in the ground to claw him back tomorrow. Nothing was coming from behind today and the ground will be worse tomorrow.
I really, really hope Altior wins, 'cos he's a superstar, but despair that he is having to run over this distance in order to 'prove himself' .
He has absolutely nothing to prove.

That may well be PN's 'plan', but whatever Cyrname serves up today, I still believe he'll find out what class really is.

I couldn’t put it better myself.

Altior never in it. Didn’t look interested. Won’t be winning a queen mother either. What a horse though and credit to Cyrname.

two main thoughts is i kind of want to be against cyrname in the KG pending oppo and i'd probably be against altior if he drops back to grade 1 two mile chases

I’m against them both. Just don’t know with what. If Lostintranslation wins in 20 minutes I’ll be favouring him in the Libg George.

I’d also absolutely love Douvan to come over and hack up

Given that they took the capable Solomon Grey off his feet right from the start, maintained a championship pace throughout and jumped well for the most part, why would there be any reason to doubt the strength of the form?
