    Aintree 2015

I think it's debatable whether Jezki would have beaten Arctic Fire that day at Leopardstown. One thing seemed pretty obvious about Arctic Fire's Leopardstown runs and that was that Paul Townend looked like he only wanted to get in a race once Hurricane Fly had gone. As such he never had too hard...

    Festival Preview Nights

Willie Mullins, in the Martin Pipe, David Mullins claiming 5 off 139, looks a veyr progressive type and no surprise he's been hammered in the betting for the past week, 6/1 now.

    Novice chasers 2014/15

It's not that simple though. If Don Poli was the only novice chaser Mullins had then he'd 100% go for the RSA imo. But because he has Valseur Lido and Vautour in the JLT he wants to shuffle the deck and give himself a strong candidate in all four races. I'm of the view that the Irish staying...

    Jockeys At The Festival

Would imagine he'll be on Roi Des Francs, fancy him strongly and getting shorter by the day.

    The Festival Handicaps

Think Roi Des Francs has been given a nice mark on 139, and Lite Duties likewise with 136 in the Pertemps, my first two handicap bets at 12/1 and 14/1 both NRNB.

Thanks for the reply EC1, interesting stuff.

    Cheltenham Gold Cup 2015

Based on these figures EC, do you think Lord Windermere should be rated better than the distances to Silviniaco Conti, given he came from behind him in a quickish finish? Or should On His Own be given extra credit given he was up with the fast early pace, and then came from behind the pace in...

    Cheltenham Gold Cup 2015

If there's damn all between them, he's obviously going to ride the JP horse. He has been a consummate professional for his whole career so why would he say to JP "I'm not riding for you" now after all these years. If he thinks Holywell has the better chance I'm sure he'll talk to JP and see what...

    Cheltenham Gold Cup 2015

Of course he's 'unlikely to be aboard' given it's not owned by JP.

    Cheltenham Gold Cup 2015

I wasn't aware of this but that makes no odds, I thought Beat That ran a fine race on comeback, like you say he cruised round and blatantly blew up. No matter what the market said, there was no way Holywell was on the ball at Carlisle. Blew up and looked after by AP. I'd strongly fancy him to...

    Ascot Chase

Ballycasey unbeaten in five completed starts over this sort of trip, taken a bit of 6/1 myself. Ran a stinker at Christmas but he wasn't the first Mullins horse to disappoint at that time of year and back over his distance he's no 6/1 shot imo.

    Cheltenham Gold Cup 2015

I'd say they were delighted with the Carlisle run, ran well for a long way before tiring in the straight, over a trip well short of his best. Finished 16 lengths behind Many Clouds giving him 6 lbs. At the same meeting last season he finished 9 lengths behind Many Clouds off levels. How can...

He had no problem taking him on last year in the Bartlett.

    What are you backing Today?

Two bets for me today, both at Punchestown. In the Pertemps qualifier, I like Wrath Of Titans. Appreciated the step up in trip last time and cheek pieces had the desired effect. Plenty of dangers here but at 10/1 Wrath Of Titans is over priced for me. I've also gone with Hidden Cyclone at 6/4 in...

    Novice chasers 2014/15

Impressive from Gitane Du Berlais today, but I doubt she's in the top five novice chasers at Closutton. Irish novices look strong, and I'll be keeping Vautour and Apache Stronghold on side for the JLT.

Dubious is putting it lightly, but will he even be rated high enough to get in

    Novice Hurdlers 2014/15

Gone in again on No More Heroes at 14/1, his Navan form is the best staying novice hurdling form around imo and I think it's safe to draw a line through his run at the weekend, which was actually a good effort in the circumstances.
