Yeah, apologies Tanlic, and anyone else who had the fortune of my wisdom yesterday. Nothing went right. 😂

    The Long Shot Thread

Struggling to pick my nose here with these longshots at the moment. I'll try one more today. 8:30 Kempton- Hereyouare- 20/1 BetVictor This son of Thewayyouare has each way chances in this field as far as I'm concerned. Ran ok last time at Chepstow but likely to be better suited to the...

5.10 Redcar - Siyahamba - 20s This tends to get behind early but if he can finish like he did at Beverley on his penultimate run he looks a good candidate for the frame at least.

    What are you backing Today?

Few for today 2:30L - Hostess - 11/4. Bit surprised this has drifted this morning but I suppose she is up against the birthday boy Moore. Interests me as Hugo Palmer's fillies are never knocked around on debut and for her to finish so close in a Newmarket maiden is encouraging. Could have been...

Sam Twist on reported on Bristol earlier. Sounded bullish, as you'd expect. Stronger hoss, who knows what he'll do this year, etc etc.

5.00 Hexham - Sendiym - 50/1 - PP and Sportsbook. 33s and 28s elsewhere I'll chance this old boy 3rd run back off a break. Done his winning over slightly shorter but 50s feels like value in this field. 3rd run back from a break so hopefully no fitness worries.

Held up. Keen. Headway 2 out. Stayed on well final furlong without reaching leaders. Marvellous.

An interview with a professional gambler...

Intriguing. I know it's mostly tongue in cheek but there's a lot of value in those comments and being a bit of a contrarian at times myself I appreciate them. Love Slim's alter-ego but still not made my mind up whether it's the gambler or the interviewer. Where can we find you on Twitter if we...

3.10 Brighton - Towelrads Boy - 25s general I don't think this is without a chance today. Was held up at Kempton last time and presumably didn't stay the trip but ran at Leicester in June over 6 like he needed further. I'm hoping over this 7f they can go a bit quick up front and this one can...

Well the weather gods did their thing but someone forgot to tell the horse. Well backed into an SP of 9/1 but didn't get home. If that ground is what the filly needs then 1m looks a better option (being by Pastoral Pursuits).

Anyone had a look at the Ayr Gold Cup yet? I like the look of Hey Jonesy at 33s. Think you can put a line through the Sprint Cup where he did too much too soon with Harry Angel. He'll have plenty of weight to carry being rated 107 but I think he can make a splash if dropped back into this...

5.15 Ffos Las The Bear Can Fly 40s (Sportsbook and PP), 33s general Down to 10 runners but still a nice each way angle here. Ground coming right at Ffos Las and should hopefully be soft by race time. PLY taking 7 off can only help.

Running total W -11 P -3.25 Total -14.25 Up against it after a few duff picks so held back a few days. Like the look of today so will re-enter the fray. Lingfield 5.40 - Muthraab Aldaar 25/1 Sportingbet (who uses them). 22/1 365 and 20s generally. 1/5 1-3 I'm going to chance Jim Boyle's...

A second selection for this evening: Doncaster 8.20 - Scenery - 22/1 B365, 20/1 others 1/4 3 places Eve Johnson-Houghton's charge steps up to 7f tonight for this class 4 handicap on Town Moor. This filly ran a fair race over a furlong shorter on her comeback at Kempton where she was beaten 6...

Running total W -9, P -1.25, Total -10.25 6.10 Thirsk - Etiene Gerard - 66/1 1/4 4places generally Typical Thirsk sprint here and I just think Nigel Tinkler's filly has to be chanced at this price. I would hope she's straighter for last week's comeback which was probably needed. You could...

5.35 York- Rake's Progress 25s Bet365, PP and Will Hill 1/4 1,2,3,4 This looks a minefield but it could be the source of a big priced runner/winner. I'm taking a chance on Heather Main's gelding. I'm of the view that 79 will be a fair mark now back up to his ideal trip after a fair comeback...

    What are you backing Today?

Olive Mabel in the 5.25 at Yarmouth for Dean Ivory and John Egan. Competitive handicap but 12s, 14s and 16s looks slightly generous after a couple of good runs behind Geetanjali on the all weather. First time cheekpieces here make this one very much of interest from an each way point of view.

    The Long Shot Thread

5.55 Bath - Vals Magic Touch 50/1 Bet365 1/4odds 1,2 33s generally. I think this one is a bit overpriced based on its last run. Blinkers go on first time, Franny Norton booked off what should be a workable mark of 50. A bit gutted there's only 7 going to post especially for a sprint handicap...
