2 Mile Chasers 20/21

RPRs put Altior on 167 for yesterday's performance.

You'd have to say for a seasonal debut that's pretty impressive.

Would 10lbs' improvement for it be unrealistic?

Actually, if their is a bug in the yard it would certainly explain a couple of things, Epatante being one and yesterday Altior was getting scrubbed along after a couple of fences. It's certainly plausible.

Nothing wrong with Epatante I don’t think. Beaten by the better horse and is the top 2 miler atm in a really poor division for me.

Hoping Saint Roi will see to that come March.

So the form between Epatante and Silver Streak in the champion hurdle counts for nothing?
Thats about a 19 length turnaround?.

She's isn't this 170 mare everyone thinks she is. She won a **** Champion Hurdle and won an egg and spoon race at Newcastle where she should have been 4/9 and not 4/5. She's now ran two shockers (mares novice race and Xmas hurdle) with no explanation

Everyone accepts it wasn't a great Champion Hurdle but one of the ones she beat was Silver Streak.

Nobody, that I know of, has said she is a 170 horse.

What people have correctly said is that, because of her 7lbs allowance and 162 rating, that a male will need to be 170 to beat her.

There's no way on this earth that Silver Streak is a 170 horse therefore we have to ask why Epatante didn't beat him yesterday.

The stable has decided to shut down for a couple of weeks on the back of that and Altior's dirty scope this morning. On the other hand they had a 25/1 winner on Saturday a few days after Allart impressed.

To paraphrase a Chinese curse, we live in interesting times.

Exactly.

Exactly what?

Neither of you have explained why she has put in two horror runs. She cannot be relied upon to run to 162 which she has done just once.

Err so back to the 2 mile chasers:D

Just watched the Altior race again from yesterday and i think if he improves 7lb he wins the CC

I think Politologue and Chacun will cut each others throats and Altior will pick them off up the hill

Improve 7 pounds he wins? He’d need to improve on yesterday’s run about a stone to just beat Nube Negra.

No more, by the same logic, than SDB has for running to the 160-odd mark he'll need to win the Stayers'. Same owner, same low-key prep, same result come March?

3/4lbs between them on the ratings for the race (Altior was conceding weight). Altior emerges the better so if he improves 7lbs Nube Negra will need to improve at least 10lbs.

And with the news of the dirty scope - if it can be believed - why wouldn't at least 10lbs' improvement be possible.

Nube Negra was visually impressive on the day, as I said at the time.

Everyone is selling Altior. It might be time to be a buyer before he runs next.

Even the great horses lose their form eventually, and there have to be better options in the Champion Chase.

Also worth stating that Buyers will have the trainer working against them every step of the way.

It’s clear that Henderson will not run this horse under anything but absolutely perfect conditions, and there’s no guarantee you’d get to see him at Newbury, let alone Cheltenham.

It’s all downside with this animal right now, and your money would work better for you somewhere else, imo.

Nothing official, but suspect they will blame the ground. Also yard has been under a cloud (I’m told) and it’s possible the horses are not quite right......in which case Saint Calvados has run some race in the King George.

I’m convinced Saint Calvados would have won under a different ride. Pocket talk no doubt, but to allow him to pull that hard and keep him held is criminal for me.
