Derby/ Oaks

Kinda hard to escape the logic that Ryan Moore prefers the Guineas' winner to the Stoute 2nd fav - having ridden both in their latest victories.

Obviously wish Moore had chosen differently. Any decision he makes or horse he rides you have to respect as he's the best in the business. They don't always get it right though. Take the Jockey Club for instance.
Clearly he's on the horse with more substance. The Stoute filly has it to prove. I hope she can.
You really can make a case for a fair few in this race. Should be a good race.

Reckon Together Forever has a right chance. The fact Joseph rides probably not a positive but he did at least give Highland Reel a good ride

At the prices, I've gone for Jack Naylor. I fancied the jolly but came to the conclusion that if that was case and Jack Naylor needed both the run and a step up in trip at the Curragh then he should be capable of confirming their 2yo form and yet was more than twice the price.

I could have gone for half a dozen though, unlike the Derby - where I can't see past Golden Horn.

It looks a good race to me with no obvious flaws in the main contenders. I've had a small reverse forecast on Legatissimo and Together Forever but there are too many dangers to be having a confident bet.

you've puzzled me..which int hard:).....JN beat Leagatissimo on similar ground to what will face today?

According to the RP database the progeny of both sire and dam sire do best on GF. JN herself has made her two biggest leaps forward, in terms of improvement from previous run, when running on GF. I therefore suspect that whatever she does today, and it might be good enough to win, can be bettered when she gets faster conditions.

thats even more speculative than what i would normally put forward:)..i know what you mean though..i have to stick with JN though..best horse in the race last time ..and if she had won would be significantly shorter today

I know it's after-timing, and that I have the full benefit of hindsight, but it was obvious Qualify couldn't win that race.

I think you have to upgrade the second slightly. She got worked up going to the start and must have expended some energy. I certainly wouldn't step her down like the trainer says he might.

Strange old race! Crystal Z who looked calm in the paddock behaved like a lunatic once racing; the French filly, quietly serene in the paddock, plodded round and as GC said knocked several noughts off her value; about 4 fillies had a bitch-fight on a par with those on the way home from Aintree after too much Lambrusco and painful blisters caused by 7 inch heels; Legatissimo who was a nutter going to post ran a blinder under a typical Moore ride (brilliant) and was unlucky; Qualify, unfancied & well-exposed did a Homecoming Queen!
