Best wishes for his early recovery - as I've put on the 'Retirements' thread, your 2nd is way better than the manner in which most horses finished today. Several injuries which might result in post-racing destruction and wads of the fields finishing weak and listless. While I thought the quality of the jumping (as in, getting over the obstacles) was better than in the UK, where a helluva lot of horses seemed to bumble and batter their way over them (and themselves in some crashing but not fatal falls), the big Irish fields looked worn out by the time they'd done half a race. I'm guessing that the riders figured many were not enjoying the ground and went easy on them, accounting for skeins of horses flopping in like migrating geese.
I don't know whether the horses have had enough now, as we get into real summertime (and it was powerfully hot here, if not at Punchestown), or what, but it was pretty much a sparkle-free day.
