What are you backing Today?

Agree that Cheltenham today is a minefield. Early season after a break with some summer performers thrown in. On a high because the season is really beginning but very wary. Instinct tells me that as good as they look, some of the short priced favourites will be beaten.
Relkeel has stolen my thunder since I had also identified Runshan as a potential surprise winner to provide a decent return on sensibily reduced stakes. I have also had a small tilt at Constant Contact in the last but the price may mean I've got it wrong. Had a serious bet on this towards the end of last season when he showed the ability to get to the front and resist challengers that many of McCain's have, ( the mark Johnston of NH).

Runshan an interesting one Relks - career high mark but then the horse only ever wins in October, definitely his time of year but if he can get out there's a chance he can make all :)

Huge fan of De Faoithesdream who goes in the opener, sadly the trainer doesn't seem to want to get the horse to settle which will always be a problem. Flattened out rapidly on a flat track at Plumpton LTO behind a very useful looking horse of John Ferguson's and really hoping they don't front run with him again as he could be a very nice horse if they taught him to settle. Village Vic is a better betting proposition for today at around 6/1 on Betfair win only, the bottomless ground would have been totally against him LTO in a good bumper at Punchestown, the step up in trip is likely to suit him and I think the favourite is beatable in what looks a hot Novice Hurdle for this time of year.

midday bet today

picked this up from gamblelanded.com..

FAKENHAM 12.00 HAYMARKET This former ex Mark Johnston trained fair maiden performer, showed last time that he could prove to be a better hurdler to win with plenty in hand. With more than normal improvement fully expected, HAYMARKET can make light of the 7lb incurred for that success around a fast track which will play to his strenghts

I feel much the same after being distracted before putting a small little something on Action Master

Well my selection ran like a dog, thankfully didn't back it in the end, didn't back anything.

Runshan was running a good race when falling at the last .The horse was winded and took a while to get up but is back in his stable eating his supper apparently.

Chicago Grey. 3.40 Cheltenham. 12/1 and better on Betfair.
This day last year, off the same mark and same weight, Chicago Grey came into this race as a short priced favourite.I backed Balthazar King, the eventual winner, ew, simply because of better value. However my satisfaction was diminished because to my mind the deserved winner would have have been Chicago Grey. Coming from the back he easily cut through the field and was flying at the second last where he unseated. Whether jockey or horse error I'm not sure but be in no doubt he would have won.
If he had won it would have been a replication of his win at the same meeting in a novices chase in 2010, where exactly the same tactics were employed.

As I type I am convincing myself even more and have stuck a little more on. A geared ew bet to recover stake if placed but latest was win only. Ground seems to be irrelevant to his chances.

A month later he was stuffed out of sight by Galaxy Rock at Cheltenham over 3m 3f who re opposes today and although the race is 3f shorter the testing conditions will make it seem like further, even with a 5lb pull I can't see him reversing form with Galaxy Rock who looks like it's been laid out by Jonjo.

He's no spring-chicken, but Finger On The Pulse appeals to me today. There don't appear to be too many really progressive types running; most looking like open books to me, and FOTP's mark doesn't look too punitive. The horse loves it around Cheltenham, and I think I can get a decent run at 40+ the Win and around 13/2 the Place.

1.40 Catterick

gallena's form is nothing special..strange magic unlikely to go well on the ground..my boy bill can't give the weight and beat Tharawal Lady who can take this on this surface..5.3 taken

Chicago Grey came last. Fortunately I had a stake saver on the the one that won the race last year and did so again today.
I'm concentrating on Cheltenham and losing whilst at Ascot which I've studied barely at all I'm 2/2

No, it's tiring and boring to hear people argue a bet for a horse only to come on and say they actually backed the winner. Maybe you did do a Desert Orchid, and if so, good luck, but why bother?

He's just an angry man. See a PM he sent be today after I called him an idiot (I did so because I saw he was looking for an argument on here).

Why the aggression?

I asked a simple question, with one word.

If you want to take that tone, i'll happily plaster all over the forum how you don't pay your english gambling debts.

Your choice.
