Led all way round, always going best, ridden after 2 out (others ridden slightly earlier). unsure whether he would hold on before the last, jumped it well, and stayed on, won by 1.5 lengths, comfortable in the end. Looks a nice, straight forward horse.

Good call.

He jumped very well in general and responded well when pressured in the straight. There's plenty more to come I'd say.

Solar Sky must be a max bet at 4s in the listed race at Ascot. His form with Namibian is very good, and he can be forgiven a disappointing run behind the Leger winner.

Barbican in that race is hugely progressive - I'd rather be with him. Although he didn't win by much last time he won off top weight in a good handicap at his first try over 12f. I remember thinking before that he race that he would need to be very progressive to beat that field off that mark and he duly did. Allied to that Hurricane Run looks like a Stallion that imparts plenty of stamina so I think the step up in trip could even bring about further improvement.

Blasting my way out of the worst run of form for a long long time so:

15:40 Gowran - Bennys Quest @ 12/1 E/W - Harley Dunne 2 for 9 teaming up with Colin Bowe and think BQ can defy top weight here.

Second (and then subsequently thrown out following an objection from the Clerk Of The Scales).

You might as well all put these in a straight accumulator as they are all going to win:

Saturday
2.40 Gaily Game
3.15 Rajsaman
3.50 Miss Crissy
4.25 Cirrus Des Aigles

Sunday
12.10 Maria Royal
1.20 Fire Lily
1.55 Dabirsim
2.30 Goldikova
3.15 Sarafina / Galikova
4.45 Announce

is this the one you thought a dog?

I said he was rubbish and would struggle to win a race of any description.First time on the all weather and dropping in distance tonight-might try to get my past losses back in one hit with a place lay tonight.

Excellent news.

I fancy Imperial Guest in the Challenge Cup at Ascot. His best runs so far in his career have all interestingly enough come towards the end of the flat season. You can go back to his two year old days when he won a listed race in October, or even last year where he was third to Redford in this very race. All wins have come on Good ground, with 3/5 of those (officially) on Gd-Fm. He beat a very good horse in Deacon Blues here back in May, and to say Deacon Blues has franked that form must be an understatement. So back on the ground he prefers, at a track he's been successful at before in Ascot, makes him a lively contender at around the 16/1 mark to my mind.

I thought Cirrus would be 7/4 to be honest, I do like Desert Blanc though, unlucky behind Casamento LTO, progressive and will be fine on the ground. 10/1 with Ladbrokes is fair enough, small EW bet for me.

I think Royal Bench will appreciate the ground in the 3.15 more than his opposition and the 7/1 with Paddy Power looks big. If it's as quick as I expect it to be, he should reverse the Moulin form and also seems to come into his own in the Autumn.

Swincombe Stone in the Fontwell bumper the 4/1 wont last i'm led to believe.

Good e/way for me

Soary's magnificent 7

all at Ascot of course.

2.05 My Propeller
2.40 Quest For Peace
3.15 Desert Poppy
3.50 Smarty Socks
4.25 Mayson
5.00 Dubai Queen
5.35 Jack Of Diamonds

I've taken Powers 33/1 about Coolchasin at Gowran.

It's clearly much more about hope than expectation, but the ground is in his favour, the front two might not be at 100% concert-pitch, and Lenabane has had a hard-enough couple of races this season. Worth a tickle.

I was surprised Grab The Glory is not favourite in the opener at Fontwell. His form is as good as anything in the race and his stable like having winners here. At 7-2 he looks a fair bet.

Correction, now a general 3-1.

Second edit: Now 9-4, the money has come for him
