What are you backing Today?

Laid at 1.75 in running. Risky,
A highly risky strategy, indeed !
Really, any trade should always be closed out before the Off; letting it linger over into In-Running will eventually end in tears. Hopefully a trade will result in "all green" but failing that -- getting out even with a slight loss has always been my philosophy. So much is chance in In-Running -- never mind the severe time-delay to which you are subjected.

Eat five portions of this every day; it's a special food for traders. :D
Great for the health of yer pocket
!

Shame, the thing with these in-running bets is they are always after the event.

Would have been nice to see SlimChance post before the event that he was going to lay off at 1.75 because we'd be non the wiser other wise.

Not doubting your credibility, although I'm not sure why you regard yourself so high and mighty but there is an issue with the substance of your claims.

There's s reason I don't normally trade, I'm an action junkie and enjoy risking my money but gigilo's thread is a bit of fun so I have got involved.

You don't learn do yah, Slim! Getting too close to Gigilo just sank a bloody ship!

Learning and remorse were never my strong points. All this girly greening out has me hanging for a Tout Seul maximum payout threatening Lucky 31!

I have all the components for one of those bar the Lucky element. Would accept 'slightly fortunate' 31 at this stage as a substitute.

You'll have to start a Cheltenham Multiples thread and lead the way.

Well I had a shyte day yesterday, was a mile ahead and put the lot on a horse who I was going to lay back in running. He went real short, huge profit for the taking, I clicked to green up and my damn internet froze like a kipper and I lost every penny:mad:

My advice is don't bet anythigng I do today

I think Zaynar has benifited from his move from Seven Barrows and this is a more realistic level for him. Can see him winning this very easily indeed.

Already backed Cinders and Ashes for plenty as this should be a steering job before taking the Supreme Hurdle. Helluva horse this and grossly underrated.

Nicky's Sate Benefit could start fav but he's no great shakes and Ill be backing Our Mick to beat him.

I cringe these days when I hear one from my old haunt, Greystroke is fancied. Just not the same since Nicky took over but he does try. It seems Mr Marker is very strongly fancied back over hurdles as he has a very good engine but tends to think fences can be kicked over like hurdles and walks into the odd one. Not as keen as they seem to be but will have a small bet.

Can't believe the level Mad Max has dropped to. NH thought at one time he could win aGold Cup he was so good then his breathing went and after several operations he showed all his class when hacking up at Aintree.

Been all downhill since but he can run really well first time up and he'd pick this lot up and carry them if anything near his best today.

I've started the day backing the three Trevor Hemmings horses at Haydock - this is a meeting the owner loves to get his trainers to target for him. I'm hopeful of at least one winner for profit.

21Jan12 2:20 Tippering HAYDOCK (Overnight), Play Online Now At StanJames.com Casino! Handicap Hurdle 6/1

21Jan12 2:55 Global Fella HAYDOCK (Overnight), Liverpool Echo "Fixed Brush" Novices' Hurdle 9/2

21Jan12 3:30 King Fontaine HAYDOCK (Overnight), Peter Marsh Chase (Limited Handicap) Grade 2 12/1

I'm backing Our Girl Salley in the mares hurdle at Ascot. On her Irish rating she is 7lbs clear of the rest of the field, and presumably her UK rating, if she had one, would be higher, given the normal tendency by the British handicappers to add a top-up to Irish ratings. This is so even after the 11 lbs rise for Kentford Grey Lady after her Kempton win is taken into account.

Salley hasn't gone three miles before, but races for high class mares over that distance are few and far between in Ireland, in fact I don't think there are any. Therefore it shouldn't be assumed her trainer has been avoiding this longer trip.

I have the impression that runners from small stables in Ireland tend to be overpriced when they go over to England, and at 11/4 I think that is the case with Our Girl Salley.

Royale's Charter - not a very original selection but his last two runs behind Kumbeshwar giving weight and behind Menorah gives me the impression he's well in - worth a try at 3/1.

Ouch!! not a good start - hope jockey's and horses are fine.

Heard a good word for O.G.S. today but I see some value in Cloudy Spirit whose weighted to possibly turn the form around with K.G.L. & V Davies and gets a handy 5lb from your selection.

Nice start Tanlic - I remember reading at the start of the season how highly they rated Cinders and Ashes but as you seem to have an ear at Seven Barrows - how highly rated is Broadbackbob? so many form lines keep coming back to him in these novice hurdles.

Sod aftertiming I got a decent winner, so at least it can happen. Forgotten the feeling. Pete the start of a long run, I hope.

The Jonjo trained fav in the last at Wincanton is very interesting-I thought he was a mega lay at1.47 an hour ago but when I looked 2 minutes ago he was 4/5.
Could benthe easiest winner of the day,get done at incredibly short odds in running or stink to high heaven.Won't be gettin involved at the prices.

Table Mountain gets in off 102 in his first handicap hurdle. A mid 90's horse on the flat he should be thrown in off that mark. As opposed to some ex O 'Brien horses he hasn't regressed since his move as evidenced by his win at Roscommon and placing at Galway during the summer.

He would probably prefer better ground but has been crying out for a trip over hurdles and has a good chance against a very average field.

Nicky Henderson's been trying find good ground and the right race for Trozulon for weeks.

He's under the same ownership as Soldatino and got a profile very similar to the classy Titan De Satri who they thought was a wonder horse until he started spitting out dummies.

He was as green as cabbage when finishing behind Keys and Cinders and Ashes but cut through the pack like a kinfe through butter before being pushed out hands and heels to finish 3rd. I heard months ago he could be a Neptune horse and if he is even good enough just to go to Cheltenham he should win at Market Rasen with his head in his chest. The vibes are decent so I wouldn't be haning about if you fancy a bet;)

I've had a small fun bet on an outsider today, 2:00 Finbar Flynn 66/1 general but I'm on nearly twice those odds - I don't expect to collect and will have a place bet close to the off - The horse has a piece of form at Catterick a couple of years ago and if reproducing that could be well in, his only form has come on an undulating sharp track as well, although that was left-handed. The real value is the fact his trainer John Davies has only had two winners in his 6-7 year career but both have come at this track, with two places as well from 8 runners. I would expect this to start a lot higher on the exchanges but hopefully it will give me a bit of fun.

Together with a few friends I have had some sizeable bets on Champagne Fever for the Festival Bumper this week which have certainly impacted general odds. Can't give the reasons but it's not from the horse's mouth as he can't talk but fair to say he is strongly fancied in this very competitive event. 20s with Tote/Betfred but 12s and 14 with some of the other big players
Goes today and whatever he does is probably likely to do even better on better ground at Cheltenham.
