You don't know what you've got till its gone - Tony McCoy Retires From Racing

Timmy runs Cilldara Stud as well as renting a house and part of his yard to Feargal. Was there recently, Timmy's house left, Feargal's right

Selling up at the end of the season. Feargal looking for new premises.

That's a pity; they seemed to have a very good partnership, especially when Timmy was riding their horses last year..quite an amazing strike rate atthe time.

How good is his golf? Could he do pro/am stuff?

I think he plays off 15 if memory serves me right. He already does some Pro/Am (usually the ones JP runs) but I wouldn't be shocked to see him turning up at the Dunhill this Autumn. He's a friend of Rory's. I could easily see him setting himself a target of scratch.

My instinctive feeling is McCoy is going to hate going racing if he ain't riding. Similarly, I just can't see him do soulless media work or brand ambassador type of thing (he'll try the former of course, but give it up quite quickly).

I wouldn't be shocked if he's completely lost to racing and takes up something else. I thought he had some long standing bet that he'd beat Emma at tennis? She used to play for her county!!! Which probably means she was little better than a club player. McCoy's never played, but the bet went something along the lines that if he applied himself from scratch, he'd beat her within two years

He gave up on that when she told him he had to wear a tennis skirt :)

AP is probably closer to JP than he is to Jonjo and I think whatever he ends up doing JP will be somehow involved.

The thought of training may not appeal to him at the moment but perhaps when Jonjo is ready to hang up his boots he will be enticed into taking over.

Jonjo has been surprisingly quiet during all this unless I have missed something but as he said he ran out of superlatives years ago when it comes to AP

Racing is in his blood and leaving all together will be extremely difficult so in a few years or more who knows.

Can't see him joining his mate John Francome on TV, Francome probably takes the pish out of him too much already on the golf course.

Writing a few books will come but they all have their names on books..they don't actually write them.

I could see him initially working for Charity along with JP. He's a very wealthy guy and by all accounts a very likable guy and would be a great asset in that field.

However at the end of the day my bet he'll end up at Jackdaw but not before Jonjo is ready to call it a day and go of his own accord.

Saw an interview with him last night in which he says he wants to do the amateur version of the Tour De France

good luck to the man in whatever he does in the future..... done me out of a few good bets over the years......... but he will be missed greatly by many punters

AP on a horse trained by Jim Best tomorrow at Fakenham called Staff Sergeant, making its handicap debut, having been beaten by 100l, 74l and 67l in its first three hurdle races. Why does he even bother ?

Unless

Found this on Wikipedia......That said I have written about Sea Pigeon on Wikipedia and they never ask you to verify it unless someone disputes it.

"McCoy is retained by Irish millionaire racehorse owner, J. P. McManus and therefore rides all of his horses in Britain and occasionally Ireland. McCoy joined forces with J. P. McManus in 2004 after reportedly being offered a £1 million a year retainer. McCoy had previously spent seven years as Martin Pipe's first jockey and many within racing were surprised of his decision to split from the all conquering Pipe stable. He has won a further 10 jockey titles since their separation of ways."

Surely not. PFN said in his book taht he didn't get Geraghty as his retained jock as he wanted everything imaginable included in his expences

McManus would have a few more quid to mess about with than Nicholls. The size of McCoy's retainer is probably what prompted BJG to ask for "everything imaginable" in the first place!

PFN doesn't pay retainers. The BJG thing predates AP's retainer with McManus - PFN wanted Ruby, Ruby wouldn't come over full time, he asked BJG, who wanted expenses, then Ruby said he would share his time between the UK and Ireland. No retainer. Reportedly, didn't ask for expenses either.

Does anyone know what AP's minimum weight is?
Doing 10.6 on Aqalim at Haydock today even with the JP owned Stonebrook in the line up who on the face of it looks nicely weighted but is not fancied in the betting in the slightest.

Lowest weight in the last year: 10-4.
Lowest in the last fortnight: 10-7.

I think Aqalim has 10-8.

Wonder what his natural weight is. A lot of people assume he's small being a jockey but the guys 5'10" or thereabouts

For his height 10.4 is still within the boundaries considered healthy but only if you're not starving yourself to do it.

At his age you'd think 10St 6 lbs as low as he would want to be going......must fancy his chances a bit

Nice spot Fonz I'm having 2 points win and 3 points 4 places......should be a good race to watch
