    Champions Day

I'm keen on Simple Verse in the first, making the assumption this race comes a bit soon for OoSG. I like following a filly in form at this time of year.

Same here NA, a real favourite.

    Some race trends

You asked a question (apparently), I answered it in good faith, I essentially got told not to bother because you weren't really interested. YOU were the one with the attitude, not me.

    Some race trends

Don't ask the question if you don't want an answer! Itdidn't read like a rhetorical question. Fuxxsake, you criticise us for not posting then criticise when we do...

    Look after this forum

I rarely contribute because I don't bet and I don't follow form closely enough to post anything of interest to the majority who are, understandably, looking for an angle/value/maximising a profit. My interest is primarily the horses themselves and bloodstock (as a pedigree anorak rather than an...

    Some race trends

I viewed it to see which races and what sort of trends were being covered as the title was unspecific. Having seen it, I realised it's of no immediate interest to me and I can't add anything of value because I rarely bet - that's not my interest in racing.

    TV coverage

I hope Richard Hoiles accepts. I don't mind Simon Holt and hope he finds a decent gig somewhere but Hoiles is my favourite commentator by far, and having met him a couple of times he seems like a genuinely nice bloke.

2-y-os 2016 incorporating First Season Sires

They're completely different horses with completely different targets at stud. Sir Prancealot: commercial early-maturing 2yo types, quantity over quality. Frankel: later-maturing owner-breeder Classic/middle-distance prospects. Add to that the massive expectation / hype around Frankel and the...

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

It might not be 'typical' of Flat racing but it's indicative of a growing trend...Dark Angel, HRE, Zebedee, Sir Prancealot, now Mehmas. All being retired as a commercial decision rather than because circumstances forcing their connections' hand - and I'm sorry, I don't see GW's fertility...

Research Project into Spectator Attendance at Racing Events

I started completing this survey but I'm afraid I gave up before completing page 1. Being asked to rate 23 reasons for attending NH racing when around half the reasons are duplicates of others in the list, and "to get away from life's problems" is essentially repeated three times in very...

    TV coverage

I've warmed to Chapman a fair bit since he's toned down the worst excesses of his Yeeehaaaa! sh!te. Towcester used to be my local track and he often did some decent paddock interviews in between races. I think he now brings a bit of much-needed colour to an otherwise fairly grey line up.

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

He died in 2010 aged 23, so I'm guessing the supply of promising youngsters for sale is starting to dry up.

Calgary Bay PTS due to ongoing lameness issues after 18 months in retirement. Shame the old boy didn't get longer to enjoy a second career.

    TV coverage

Mick Fitz on the recording of the first at Ascot: "...won by Ryan Moore, who has been a bit quiet of late". He's been out injured, you utter twonk. Tends to keep jockeys "quiet" on the track. Sums him up as a presenter.

    TV coverage

I just find it staggering that someone who has racing experience that 99% of us will never have can't use that experience to inform us with actual insights. It just proves that doing it and talking about it are two very different skills, and while no one can fault his track record for the...

    TV coverage

In an FB racing group of which I'm a member, I seem to be the lone voice of dissent over Mick Fitz. Everyone who has posted seems to think this is the best news possible and I'm in the unpopular corner going "WTF? He's a nice bloke but a useless presenter!" So he does seem to have popularity...

    Ex-racehorse at the Olympics

Something that might be of interest to one or two...one of the horses on the Brazilian three-day eventing team is the winning ex-Mick Channon-trained Summon Up Theblood. Over a demanding cross-country track, generally agreed to be the toughest Olympic course since Sydney in 2000, he has just...

York Ebor Meeting; (a proper good meeting :))

Me, on the Wednesday :) Really hoping Minding takes on Postponed and Hawkbill in the feature, although I fear Coolmore's quest to turn USAR into a stallion will mean she sticks to beating up her own sex in the Yorkshire Oaks.
