    The Arc 2021

Frankie living off coolmore scraps at the moment. Unless gosden has some decent 2yos I can see him retiring in a couple of years. He’s hardly riding outside the group races. Mind you he said he isn’t interested in training so maybe a future in tv might beckon. If the ground is decent in the arc...

Can’t see smb going over 12f. The lads have love, snowfall and Broome for the 12f group ones. He’s won four group ones in a row so I don’t think he has anything to prove. If he beats the same horses at York and the Irish champion it won’t improve his standing. I’m sure the lads are thinking about...

    Eclipse

The racing post with Tom segal podcast was quite dismissive of smb saying his form didn’t stack up. As Matt chapman of all folk pointed out it didn’t make any difference if there was pace in the race or not. Smb has a tremendous burst over 10f and always looked the likely winner to most punters...

    Eclipse

Funny that so many dismissed smb before the race. Don’t think it would have made much difference whatever the pace was. Mishriff disappointing in gb again. Strange gosden moaned about the going as he’s won on soft ground a couple of times. The only time we’ll see smb over 12f is possibly in the...

    Eclipse

Just a tremendous performance. We can analyse to the nth degree why he won so easily but I just prefer watching a top horse doing his stuff. Be interesting to see how timeform rate it. El drama could well be a 116 plus horse over 10f. Pleased for Ryan to be on.

The Derby Sat June 5th 2021

I think the problem aiden and the lads have had is that Galileo in his later years has been covering much faster horses so they don’t know who is going to be a miler and who is going to be a ten to twelve furlong horse. Plus horses like Van Gogh who on pedigree looks like needing 12 f has been...

    York Day Two

The race is hard to guage. The winner benefitted from being towed along and outstayed tdh. The rest were far too far back to have a chance of catching the front two. Japan was given a typical easy, first run, ride by Moore. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Japan reverses the form next time but I...

    Champions Day

Horses like barney Roy and big orange were lost in that ground and all the races ran like they were a furlong longer. It only suited a few horses and made betting a lottery. Who would have thought hydrangea would be pulling away from bateel at the end of a gruelling 12 f. So much guesswork when...

    Champions Day

Frankel has had the best group of mares to cover of any first season sire so he desperately needed cracks man to win. Galileo had five group one winners with his first batch of runners but he is of course the exception to the norm. The hype around Frankel is understandable but as of yet he has...

    Dewhurst Stakes

Ryan obviously has a very dry sense of humour but bar seahenge there were no excuses for the beaten horses. Mendelsohn probably didn't like the going in the champagne and I suspect it was too fast for seahenge. The rest just not good enough. Expert eye obviously got too wound up but I always...

I appreciate matt isn't everybody's cup of tea but he know his onions and unlike most on horse racing channels speaks his mind. I find him hugely entertaining and you know when he is going ott, he has that twinkle in his eye. Carry on matt, the racing wouldn't be as good if he wasn't there.

The Road to the 2017 Champion Hurdle

Mullins must have had an inkling that faugheen wouldn't make it therefore I'm sure York hill has been trained with half an eye on the champion hurdle. He looks the value bet to me as he stays further which is generally what you need to win a chsmpion hurdle.

    The Two Mile Chase thread

Douvan to me is clearly in a different league to anyone with thistlecrack the only one in the same parish. He seems never to need to get out of second gear. Faugheen to me looks like a chaser and if he was in any other yard would have been looked on as a gold cup horse. Not looking good for...

Not sure if this means he is in the cc picture but that was just a great run by sdg. Without sprinter sacre it's wide open and if he gets to march in that form then he should be in the shake up. I'd love to see him do it as he is one of my absolute favourite chasers.

    Willie Mullins

What I do admire is that Mullins does it his way and the results are their to see. He does have great training facilties but keeps his owners sweet and ricci seemed to have great admiration for him. If owners did dictate where they wanted their horses to go you could end up the same as the...

    Breeders Cup

She's an incredibly tough mare and highland reel has run his possibly his best two runs on his 17th and 18 th runs. They have won £10m between them and it's great we are seeing horses past their 3 yo careers. Highland reel stays in training as does minding. Fabby we get to See them next season.

    TV coverage

The most annoying thing about how racing Is presented on TV is how they make exciting races seem dull. When the Gurkha won the Sussex stakes in a class battle the commentators were as calm as you like. The great thing about Chapman is that you can feel his enthusiasm for racing while most...

Joe Davis was the epitome of a stalwart. Hard as nails to boot. Btw Joe baker was a fabulous player and only just seen missed out in being in the England 66 squad. Saw his comeback game at Easter road and he of course scored. A lovely guy whose brother Gerry was a cracking player too. I'm...
