Fiendishly difficult stuff today. I've had a tentative interest in Burn The Floor in the next; the form of her last run at Leopardstown looks solid (did best of those to race prominently) and she looks open to further improvement.

I would be very interested in Flavia Tatiana were she better drawn; she looked a patent non-stayer over 10f on two occasions at Navan with the drop down in trip sure to suit. The draw puts me right off though.

A pony e/w on Good Shot Noreen 8/1 at the off was a good start of me chasing a monkey.

Hope you backed it each way Kauto.

Going back to amateurs race I thought the winner got the ride of the week.

Three of Colm Murphy's amateurs have won the big race this evening over the last few years....Matt O'Connor, Mikey Fogarty and Colin Motherway.

Such a bias at Galway. It's not far off Chester. I remember backing one of Prendergasts last year that was drawn 2 and gambled off the boards butafter breaking well he lost it's pitch and had was beaten a mile. You have no chance from in behind in the bigger fields.

Dels horse nicely backed -would you rather believe Dermot or the market.

The auld nag I wanted to lay Shazamour has drifted to 5/2 in place market-unfortunately liquiditynwas too poor to get involved at odds on this morning.

Rory Delargy has a theory about backing gambled horses who flop on their next outing, on the grounds that connections were unlikely to have been completely wrong and the market tends to overreact to the bad run. A possible candidate for this approach is Passage Vendome in the bumper, who went off a very short price first time out, and would probably be shorter for this if it was his debut.

I'm not sure if it was last year or the year before, but Weld had a similarly poor (bar the one winner) start to the meeting and had plenty of winners as the week went on. It's happening again me thinks. Two poor horses in the two handicaps but I'd say his good one is coming later in the week. Anyone know what it is :D

What is it worth to me?

Nicely backed in the end up, was 8s in the betfair market at one point, backed into 4.something near the off. I have no explaination for that showing, apologies. I dont know if the horse done too much early or what, all I know is I have had a baaaaad day.

Going along with Greys theory, there was positive word and money for Bolgers horse last time, so I have tried to get a few quid back on him.
