The 2022 Derby Thread

Beautiful horse, beautiful ride, beautiful training performance. What more can you say?

I am sticking Westover, Star Of India and Desert Crown in reverse forecasts and a reverse tricast. Trying to maximise returns in the event Desert Crown wins at short odds...

This is my attempt at thinking outside the box.

No rub of the green again even though I only did a 50p reverse forecast on these three.

Well done to Reet well touted and a well deserved success with Desert Crown.

As expected. Big jump forward from the Dante. Smooth ride.

Thought the 3rd would run well. Emmm found trouble.

Well, that’s cheered me up a bit. Well done DC backers, especially reet who was unshakeable :)

Unlucky Marb. Thx to this thread (I'd have had no clue, otherwise) I went for the DC/Westover FC too. Great to watch.

Thanks guys, thought since York he was a very good horse, and he proved it today.Could well go on to land the Arc,imo.

Unlucky you aswell Chaumi!

If I had won anything on the greyhound racing the last week or so, (which I haven't) I was planning to up the stakes on that reverse forecast but unfortunately nothing went to plan. :)

I might make an appearance at church before Royal Ascot just to try to get the rub of the green again. :)

I look forward to working out ratings for the race.

Runner-up rated 105.
Third rated 109.

Hmmmmm....

The runner up was slowly away and finished well in the Craven behind Native Trail. He was third but the second had a better position through the race. Trip and a decent pace has wrung improvement out of him and from a top yard.

My ex is going to be impossible now as he told me after last seasons run, DC would win the Derby. And he kept backing it. Oddly (as he has access to my BF account) he didn’t actually back it for me but stuck a couple of random bets on Hafit and Walk of Stars for me instead . I questioned him especially after I saw how gangly WoS was. I backed the winner but only at vastly shorter prices than he had advised. Ah well. A good winner and fair play for all those who spotted him so early on...apparently half of Newmarket were on.

It’s always worth taking note of horses that Michael Stout starts off at Nottingham, especially as it has a Tottenham Corner type bend. Says I who never thought of backing him. Hindsight and all that.

You mean it’s left handed. Apart from that it’s not very like Epsom....flat as a pancake for a start.

I was told years ago that the bend was very like Tattenham corner. But I suppose a lot of tracks have similar bends. I haven’t been to many flat racing tracks.
