As I've said, we're not beaten yet, TS......I just question whether riding arrangements are a cockle to give Ricou a winning outing. That said, there's evidence presented here that perhaps supports the "thank you' theory being put forward. We'll find out tomorrow, I guess.

I'm off down the Borders with the lovely Mrs Grass today, for an overnighter sans enfants. Plan had been to go to Kelso tomorrow, but it's abandoned, and I now need to find a convincing reason to be home for 14:20. All creative suggestions welcome.

Tell her one of the kids has just rang and Digger's going through her knicker drawer again!

Ruby Walsh From PP Blog

I’d a few choices in this but have gone for Buiseness Sivola from Ivan Grozny, Kalkir or Bamako Moriviere. It’s 600 odd days since Ivan Grozny last ran and he’s carrying top weight so I think it will be difficult for him.
Bamako Morviere ran okay in Limerick over Christmas, he has improved a bit but he needs to improve a good bit more to be competitive here.
So that left me with a choice between two five-year-olds in Kalkir and Buiseness Sivola. They both seem to be working well and they’re on the very same weight.
Having run in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap at Cheltenham last year, Buiseness Sivola might have just that bit more handicap experience which is why I went with him.

The ground and distance should suit both horses but it’s a very competitive and Paddy’s paying the first five home.

"We run four in the Coral Hurdle over 2 miles. Ivan Grozny (Danny Mullins) has been off for a long time but seems in good form at home. He might find it difficult with the burden of top weight. Ruby has elected to ride Business Sivola and that could be a good pointer. There is not much between him and Kalkir (Jacques Ricou) who also should run well. Bamako Moriviere (David Mullins) ran a good race at Limerick at Christmas and will improve for that run."

Leading French jockey Jacques Ricou will arrive in Ireland for the first time later this week after signing up for a winter stint riding out for Willie Mullins.
A multiple champion jockey in his homeland, Ricou is perhaps best known to Irish fans as the rider of the ill-fated Jair Du Cochet, who won a number of big prizes in England before suffering a fatal injury when being prepared for the 2004 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
In the subsequent decade Ricou has continued to ply his trade at the highest level, adding to his Grade One tally in 2015 aboard Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris winner Milord Thomas and top-class filly Kotkikova.
He rode his first winner for Mullins aboard Gitane Du Berlais in the Prix Juigne over hurdles at Auteuil in March and is relishing the prospect of working under the all-conquering champion trainer in the coming weeks.
Ricou said: "I take the boat to Ireland later today and will arrive tomorrow afternoon. It's very exciting.
"I have never been to Ireland before so I want to learn more about the country and hopefully improve my English.
"I'm very happy to go and work for Mr Mullins. For me, he is the best trainer in Europe. I have ridden for Mr (Guillaume) Macaire and some of the best trainers in France, so I wanted to work for the best trainer in Ireland and I think I am a very lucky man."
Ricou is particularly looking forward to working alongside Ruby Walsh and hopes the move will improve his riding.
"In this job, you can always learn more if you want to. I know my good qualities and my bad qualities, so I want to learn and improve," he said.
"It will be very good to work with Ruby Walsh, who is an amazing jockey. It will be a great experience for me.
"I love horses and I love jump racing. I can't wait to get started.
"I am not going to Ireland planning to ride in races. I'm going just looking forward to riding out every morning for my pleasure and my personal enjoyment.
"Maybe if I have some rides in France, I will travel back to ride and then come back to Ireland.

"I hope to stay in Ireland until the middle of January."

The plot thickens!

He gave Kalkir a great ride. Ruby is such an idiot. Thought we had until I saw the winner travelling like Isfabraq.

**** my life.

Have to say, I thought it was a very unsatisfactory race. Only the first two got good rides.

My main hope was Colla Pier but it was never put in the race with any chance (not deliberately). But if the horse needs to see its hurdles it needs to be kept wide and a big field at Leopardstown is not the race in which to be running it. The winner was scraping paint the whole way and beat a proper plot.

Very unlucky, Slim. Great shout. Thanks.

Yes great shout as I've said previously. Kalkir was defitely the Mullins horse for the race and was Ricou's chance of heading home with a winner.

I've re-run the last mile of the race three times and there were some future plots in behind, and all of them relatively high profile. Notably the favourite, Giggi's number one, and two of Mullins.

You're not allowed to say things like that on here, Maruco.

When I suggested one was running in the Hennessy as a prep for something else I was told I was an idiot.

The market is immature and a certain man who's icey tentacles know no bounds has yet to show his hand.

It's similar to a game of five card stud in New Orelans. The Kid has bet his set of 7's into The Man who is showing a straight and flush draw. We've shown our hand.

Lay at 7.8

Icy tentacles alright
The 16/1 winner was 33/1 at the start of the Kalkir gamble

I'm still not paid-out on my each-way (B365). Anyone else still waiting?

Happens occasionally with 365
I backed a 10/1 winner one Saturday afternoon a couple of years back and it didn't come through until about 6 o clock that night.
